We just launched SAMA’s first Kickstarter Campaign to preserve through Virtual and Augmented reality a very special artwork in our collection, Fatherhood, and we count on your support!
Fatherhood, 2015 - Stinkfish
We need your support to help us document this monumental artwork and its history before the piece is destroyed by the end of 2019.
Fatherhood was made in 2015 by the Colombian artist Stinkfish, and it is the next artwork from SAMA's collection to be demolished due to the renovations happening in Amsterdam Nieuw-West. The artwork is a masterful example of Stinkfish’s artistic style and one of the standout murals in SAMA’s collection. The mural is located in the heart of a community that is home to many families and right across the street from a park. Not only does the work speak directly to issues encountered by many local residents, but it also brightens up the community and demonstrates the innate ability of street art to grab viewer’s attention and complement the existing architecture by bringing more visibility to a neglected space in the city.
We have less than 3 months to bring Fatherhood into Virtual Reality before it is gone forever!
SAMA is constantly looking for out-of-the-box strategies to document and preserve the history of our collection. During the last three years, the museum has invested time and research on developing a Virtual and Augmented Reality documentation plan to preserve our art pieces and its stories for eternity, being the first museum to use this technology as the main tool for preservation. But as a small nonprofit organization, the museum is struggling with making this major turn towards the digital documentation of our art pieces due to a lack of resources to purchase the necessary equipment to conduct the project.
Therefore, with your help, we will be able to purchase the necessary equipment and make the digitalization of our collection possible!
